Rhythm of Life

Rhythm of Life is back this year with another scintillating evening of dance. Sangamithra Foundation will be hosting this event at the Jay M Robinson High School in Concord, NC on November 12, 2016. As with our previous ROL events, this will be a multi-cultural dance show with performances that include traditional Indian dances, Afro Russe Dance, Latin, Irish, Chinese and many more performed by local dancers and dance groups. This year we also have a special performance 'Lasyanjali', by the renowned mohiniyattam dancer Pallavi Krishnan. Join us for an unforgettable evening of dazzling dance performances and help us make our motto of ‘giving with a purpose’ a reality.

Introduction

Rhythm of Life is an annual fund raising event for Sangamithra Foundation. This is a multi-cultural dance event to promote cultural diversity and humanity. Dancers from different cultural background perform in this event and it is a great opportunity to experience the world culture in one place. Rhythm of life started in the year 2012 has provided an international platform for dancers from various schools in and around Charlotte to present their culture in the form of dance and recitals.

How to Participate

Participation to this event is by completing an application, and providing us with a video cliip from a previous dance program.

Who can Participate

Experienced dancers of age group 12 and up are welcome to register for participation in this event. To provide opportunity for more dancers, group participation is encouraged for this event.  To provide the best performance for our patrons and viewers selection for this event is based on the diversity and performance of the participants. 

When is the event

Event is organized once a year in Summer/Fall season. 2016 Rhythm of Life event is scheduled on 12th November 2016 at J M Robinson High School, Concord, NC

Highlight of 2016

A leading Mohiniyattam exponent, Pallavi Krishnan is acclaimed for her versatility as a performer, choreographer and trainer. Known for her tremendous efforts to promote and preserve this style of dance as a living tradition, Pallavi initially got trained in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam under Guru Kalamandalam Sankaranarayanan. She completed her graduation in Dance (Kathakali) from Santiniketan (Viswa Bharathi University). Her passion for Mohiniyattam led her from Santiniketan to Kerala Kalamandalam making her the only Indian dancer who is an alumnus of these two coveted national arts academies.

  • Bharatnatyam Peformance by K R Vatsala

Hails from a well known artiste family and the youngest sister of K R Vijaya. She has acted in more than 300 movies in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam such as Arunachalam, Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Yathramozhi, Sarpayagam and etc. She has taken passion to barathanatyam from the age of 5 and started to learn from the great gurus like Dananjeyan, Vazhoor Ramayapillai and Murugappa and have performed in over 1000 stages around the world.
